Helmbold & Stewart had its beginning in 1868 and has operated throughout the years under names such as James Kerr, Biddle and Helmbold and finally Helmbold & Stewart by 1901. The agency is a member of the Keystone Insurers Group, one of the largest affiliations of locally owned independent insurance agencies in the country. A new office building was constructed at the current location in 2004.
Helmbold & Stewart has served over four generations of families and businesses in central Pennsylvania, providing all types of insurance and risk management services. Home, auto, life, health, commercial & business, professional, specialty workers compensation services, employee benefits, loss control and safety services, including claims management are offered to provide financial protection to its clients.
In 2009, three employees of Helmbold & Stewart saw the need to expand services to assist employers in controlling costs in the areas of Human Resources, Employee Benefits, Health & Wellness, Workers Compensation and Safety. Unified Employer Solutions, Inc. was formed to respond to the needs of area employers. This company helps employers focus on the areas of greatest cost and understand ways to control them through methods learned over the years. The merging of DMS Safety Services into the company has further expanded offerings to safety training and consulting.
